Throughout the years of my experience as a therapist, I’ve worked with a broad spectrum of clients including individuals struggling with depression and anxiety, individuals who have experienced trauma, couples undergoing conflict, and entrepreneurs and other individuals in high stress situations.
If you’re feeling stuck, frustrated, or struggling with a transition, we can work together to understand the challenges you’re facing and develop a plan to address your needs. It is my passion to help you identify your strengths to improve your quality of life, your peace of mind, and the health of your relationships.
It’s not uncommon to feel disconnected or in disagreement with your partner. I truly believe that all couples, whether dating for six months or married for thirty years, can benefit from counseling by working through conflict and arriving at a place of understanding, empathy, respect, and love.
Developed over 25 years ago by Dr. Harville Hendrix and Dr. Helen LaKelly Hunt, Imago relationship therapy (IRT) is highly effective in helping couples move from disagreement to understanding and empathy. We’re often unaware of the wounding that occurred in our childhood, specifically in the relationships with those who raised us. Imago therapists are trained to facilitate the healing of these wounds in the context of your relationship today, and provide you and your significant other the tools to heal and grow together. By applying my Imago training in my practice, I guide couples through interactive communication exercises to more effectively validate each other’s feelings and concerns.
It’s not uncommon to think that therapy can take years, or even decades, to heal traumatic memories and adverse life experiences. But thankfully, the growth of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is effectively treating military veterans and victims of trauma to show that meaningful progress can be made. According to the EMDR Institute, some studies show that 84%-90% of trauma victims no longer have post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after only three 90-minute sessions. Millions of others have found success with EMDR in its 25 years, and I’ve personally witnessed incredible healing from deep emotional wounds.
